Jessica Nakata’s love for Interior Design sparked at a young age. As a child growing up in Brooklyn New York, Jessica’s first design project was the complete remodel and interior design of her dollhouse. Since then, Jessica has graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Interior Design, trained and worked along side with two well known Southern California interior designers, opened and  operated a successful retail home furnishings store and interior design business in Studio City (The Black Door) and been published in two national magazines. 

Jessica started The Black Door Interior Design with the goal of incorporating the architecture of a home or commercial space with the surrounding environment and a client’s personal taste into a successful finished product. Jessica has a 10 year track record of taking a clients lifestyle and budget into account to ensure long term happiness for the client. Jessica has experience and design knowledge of many different interior styles and enjoys incorporating them into each project. Over the last 10 years Jessica has compiled a comprehensive list of resources which include contractors, architects, custom fabricators, furniture manufactures, decorative painters and flooring specialists.

Jessica’s goal of making the design process an enjoyable one and maintaining a professional relationship with her clients beyond project completion has lead to over 90% of her business coming from referrals.
