As a child growing up in Brooklyn, New York, Jessica Nakata

discovered her love for interior design when she was just a young girl. Her passion began with the remodel and interior design of her dollhouse. A graduate of San Francisco State University, Jessica has earned a degree in interior design, trained and worked alongside two renowned Southern California interior designers, opened and operated a successful retail home furnishings store and interior design business in Studio City (The Black Door) and been published in two national magazines.

Jessica established The Black Door Interior Design with the goal of fusing a building’s architecture and its surrounding environment with the client’s personal taste to create a successful finished product. With a 10-year track record of customer satisfaction, she has ensured long-term happiness for her clients by consistently considering their lifestyles and budgets.

Jessica’s aspiration of having fun with the design process while maintaining a professional relationship with clientele beyond project completion has led to her industry success, with over 90% of her business from referrals.
